Judy Garland (born Frances Ethel Gumm; June 10, 1922 – June 22, 1969) was an actress and singer from the United States. 

She is well-known for her appearance as Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz.

The legendary blue-checked dress worn by Judy Garland in the Wizard of Oz was sold for little over $1.5 million, with a premium of $1,565,000, at Bonham’s auction house on November 23.

The total was well more than the lot’s high estimate of $1.2 million.

According to a Bonhams representative, three bidders sought the outfit before being sold to a phone bidder.
