Who is the person behind this item?

The past owner of this drum kit is none other than Beatles’ Ringo Starr’s.

He was the drummer for the Beatles, amongst the most influential rock bands. He was born July 7, 1940, in Liverpool, Liverpool, Merseyside, England, and was a British singer, songwriter, and actor. However, it wasn’t only in his solo career that he achieved success.

In 2015 Starr got an opportunity to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, receiving the Award for Musical Excellence.

Starr got the opportunity to be a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1965. Then, he received a knighthood in the 2018 New Year Honours.

What makes this item so rare?

Ringo Starr’s drum kit, the Ludwig Oyster Black Pearl, which he utilized in the early days of the Beatles, was the beginning of his fantastic career.

Paul McCartney, a fellow Beatle, used the set to record his debut solo album, “McCartney,” in 1970.

Utilizing this kit to its extent, Starr used this kit for more than 200 performances between May 1963 and February 1964.

How much is it worth today?

To raise funds for the Lotus Foundation, which he co-founded with his wife Barbara Bach. Starr auctioned off over 1,300 items from his archives. Including in his project is his drum kit.

 Many of the Lotus Foundation’s main objectives are: to raise money for charitable programs that help people in need in several ways.

They also help people with cerebral palsy; brain tumors; cancer, battered women and their children; homelessness, and animals in need.

According to AFP, the winning bid for the drum kit got put in by Jim Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League.

Its current value is estimated to be around 2.2 million dollars.
