Why is this guitar special from others?

The guitar, a 1962 Gibson J-160E, was a pair of similar acoustic guitars by Lennon and bandmate George Harrison. They bought it from Rushworths Music House in Liverpool in September 1962.

Following that, Beatle’s single used it to write and record the “Love Me Do.” However, Lennon’s guitar is missing after The Beatles’ Finsbury Park Christmas show in December 1963. So the guitar was missing for almost 50 years. Then, one day an amateur guitarist named John McCaw discovered it. Lennon’s guitar was in John McCaw’s possession after buying it in the late 1960s. He has no idea it stole it from the legendary Beatle.

Andy Babiuk, who has written on the Beatles’ musical instruments, confirmed its authenticity. He compares the guitar’s serial number, wood grain, and scratches to images and films of Lennon playing it. There have been no adjustments to the guitar’s hardware or electronics. And it has never been refinished.

This guitar is a massive part of John Lennon’s and the Beatles’ history.
