Who is the person behind this item?

Paul Garnet Henderson (born On January 28, 1943) is a former professional ice hockey player from Canada.

In the National Hockey League (NHL), Henderson spent 13 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Atlanta Flames. While in the World Hockey Association (WHA), Henderson spent five seasons with the Toronto Toros and Birmingham Bulls.

In between two major leagues, he scored 376 goals & 758 points in almost 1,000 games. Henderson was a part of the Memorial Cup-winning Hamilton Red Wings squad and played in two NHL All-Star games.

Because of its historical significance to the sports industry, it is scarce.

Henderson scored the game-winning goal in game eight of the series with just 34 seconds left; it was nearly 50 years ago, known as a Canadian hockey milestone.

A Montreal auction company received a Guinness World Records certificate for Henderson’s jersey when he scored the winner in the 1972 Summit Series versus the Soviets.

Because of its authenticity, this item is so rare.

Making a new record as; $1.275 million was the winning bid.

According to Marc Juteau, head of Classic Auctions, the jersey could be the most costly ever auctioned in any sport, elevating Henderson atop a different prestigious category above hockey greats.

The wealthy businessman who paid more than $1 million for Paul Henderson 1972 Jersey has excellent recollections of the 1972 Summit Series as a child.

He knew it was something he needed to have. He remembers watching the tournament’s last game between Canada and the Soviet Union in his Toronto elementary school gym.
