Who created this toy?
The original Optimus Prime toy was initially known as the Diaclone toy “Battle Convoy.” Takara’s development team stepped in to build it after the original creator fell behind. The toy’s sole inventor on the patent is Hiroyuki Obara. And Shoji Kawamori, a well-known mecha designer, was part of this group. The toy is cleft into two parts: a red and blue White Freightliner WFT-8664T cabover semi-trailer truck made partially of die-cast metal. And the second of which is a vast silver trailer of a currently unknown model. The G1 Pepsi Optimus Prime consider rare.
Optimus Prime is one of the popular Transformers as the leader of the Autobots. He is notable for his strong moral character. However, since they fought on opposing sides in Cybertron’s civil war, his greatest foe is his brother Megatron.
What makes this toy valuable?
The Pepsi-colored version of Autobot is frequently the most expensive Transformers toy available. This limited special edition from 1985 is identical to the original. Their difference is the Pepsi labels on the box and the Pepsi logo. Also, it is only available in North America. In addition, unlike Starscream and Soundwave, Optimus Prime was discontinued after the first issue. Therefore, the G1 Pepsi Optimus Prime Transformer is more difficult to find than the standard version.
What’s Pepsi Optimus Prime worth today?
A graded mint in sealed box issue just sold for over $12,000! The G1 Pepsi Optimus Prime Transformer remains the collectors’ Holy Grail.
This figure version comes with two Pepsi logo stickers for the buyer to paste on Prime’s trailer, halfway along the typical silver-and-blue stripe. The accessories featured are laser Blaster, two fists (left & right), Roller (dark blue), four rockets, trailer/Combat Deck, hose, nozzle, and fuel pump.
A little note that an Optimus Prime with Pepsi stickers can yield a ton of cash at auction if it’s in good shape!
