Strawberry Shortcake Mint Tulip

Who created Strawberry Shortcake?

Tulsa’s Muriel Fahrion produced Strawberry Shortcake Doll Mint Tulip.

In 1977, Fahrion was an illustrator who worked at American Greetings. Her company asked her to create a rag doll. It should be a character with a strawberry and daisy theme in pink and green colors for a greeting card sequence. She then illustrated a consecutive 32 characters for Those Characters From Cleveland.

Later on, Cindy Mayer Patton and Janet Jones developed the last additional characters for the collection. Artist Frances Kariotakis painted most of the artwork for the series, but various freelancers did it. Lynn Edwards worked as the line’s editor, assisting in developing the characters and plot.

Each of the Strawberry Shortcake characters had its fruit or dessert-themed moniker. And matching apparel and a dessert- or fruit-themed pet. Strawberry Shortcakes were fragrances to match the theme of the dessert.

One of Strawberry Shortcake’s characters is Mint Tulip. Sweet Mint Tulip came from the land of Hollandaise. She was a lovely little Dutch girl.

Strawberry Shortcake became appealing to young girls across the United States in the 1980s.
