Men-A-Vision developed this Vintage Atari Games Air Raid. However, it was not a particularly popular game. But only 13 instances are estimated to persist in the wild, making it an incredibly sought-after treasure among video game collectors.

Many video game lovers consider Air Raid to be the holy grail of Atari cartridges. Unfortunately, only a few are known to exist, and even fewer are known to come with the box. The game is worth roughly $33,400 on its own. No, that wasn’t a mistake; the cartridge alone is worth $33,400.

It features a unique cartridge design with a blue ‘T’ shaped handle. And it is also called 1982 shoot’em up video game for the Atari 2600. The game is defending a city from invading an alien ship. So you’re attempting to eliminate them before they destroy the city.

The Vintage Atari Games Air Raid recognized and popular video game home console appears to have no love lost in the gaming community, as it continues to sell like hotcakes 40 years after its official release! 

The first genuinely complete game (cartridge, instruction manual, and box) was in October 2012. So when the copy of Air Raid went up for sale, it fetched an astonishing $33,433.30. It smashes the previous record for the most expensive Atari 2600 game ever sold, achieved by the same game in April 2010 for $31,600. It included the cartridge and box only.

Who own this treasure and sold it?

Sandlin said he spent around $5 and $10 for Air Raid in the mid-1980s. Sandlin’s cartridge had more value than one found in a thrift store carton because he was the original owner. Later on, he found it in his garage and sold it for $31,600 last April 2010.
