Who are the Avengers?
The Avengers are a fictional group of heroes who appear in Marvel Comics’ American comic novels. This comic book debuted in author Stan Lee and artist/co-plotter Jack Kirby’s The Avengers 1 (cover date: September 1963). The Avengers was initially made up of Iron Man, Ant-Man, Hulk, Thor, and the Wasp and were dubbed “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.” In issue #4, the first Captain America was when Avengers added him to the team.
The Avengers is one for all ensemble cast of well-known superheroes in the Marvel Comics universe. As shown in the following illustration, they usually act alone. However, they do reassemble as a squad to bring out particularly formidable villains, unlike specific other superheroes teams such as the X-Men. Avengers developed their characters, mainly being part of their team, with the team being vital to their identity.
Why does this treasure value so much?
For, of course, apparent reason, this was the first Avengers comic to be published. It’s also a very valuable comic because it’s among the most legendary Marvel comics of all time. Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man, and The Wasp standing up with Loki on that classic cover has already sold for nearly $200,000, earning tens of thousands of dollars with each acquisition.
It’s practically hard to find a graded or ungraded copy of this renowned comic for much less than $5,000. However, it still sells for over $40,000 in superb condition, and it’s hard to fathom that amount will ever drop. As with most comic characters or teams, the first issue will always be the most valuable, and the Avengers’ first issue is no exception.
In 2022, how much will Avengers 1 be worth?
In approximately June of 2018, the acquisition of Avengers 1 CGC NM+ 9.6 raked in $194,000; this is true even though such a high-grade copy is significantly more uncommon than low- to mid-grade documents. Nonetheless, the price of a CGC GD 2.0 copy increased between $300 in early 2004 and $1,700 in 2019. Similarly, in 2019, CGC FN 6.0 rated books sold for $5000, up from $750 in 2004.
