Why is this comic book rare?

Like the other rare comics, All American Comics 16 is valuable in the history of the DC Comics Universe. Publishing All-American Comics #16 in the year 1940. In this comic, Alan Scott appeared as the first character bearing the name of Green Lantern. Martin Nodell and Bill Finger spawned Green Lantern. Nodell created and formed Green Lantern from Greek Mythological Gods.

What was Green Lantern’s backstory?

A meteor lands in distant China, breaking open and revealing a mysterious green flame. It tells the natives its purpose, including conferring great power in the future. At first, meteorite’s metals are forged into a lamp, then later into a lantern. Later on, a young engineer withstands a competitor’s deadly sabotage. Finally, Alan Scott possesses the lantern, forge a ring from it that gives him mysterious new powers. Calling himself Green Lantern, he swears to fight evil with the help of a magical ring.

What’s was the estimated value for this one?

In 1940, All American Comics 16, The Green Lantern, is the fourth-highest priced comic book on record. About 52 registered copies of All-American Comics 16 First Green Lantern release. So since this one is a debut issue, any copy of the All-American Comics 16 is expensive. The complete volume in poor condition was still cost about $3000. The Near Mint condition in All-American Comics #16 was $203,000. 

In 2021, the worth of this All American Comics 16 in the Mint condition was mysterious but suspected to be over $1,000,000 because of a $1M offer made for a CGC NM 9.4 copy in earlier years. Green Lantern is a very famous character, and this copy is limited to an estimated 100 copies or less. 11years, you can buy a low-grade copy in Good condition 2.0 for $10,000. Now, the Good condition 2.0 in the same grade would cost you 4X that price at $35,000.
